GLADES OWNERS ASSOCIATION MEETING
MARCH 16,2008
In attendance board members, Cavaleri, Clements, Cox, Easter, Friess, Lloyd, and owners 24. Meeting called to order at 3:15 by Cavaleri, president. The late start was due to construction on Beckrich Rd. and the necessity of using a different entrance than owners are used to.
A quorum of all 6 board members is present. Notification to all owners was made by mail in a letter dated Jan. 24, 2008. Motion to accept minutes of Jan 24, 2008 made by Easter, 2nd by Lloyd. Motion carried.
Ballots returned by owners to decide new board were brought to meeting by Friess, treasurer. Susan Shaffer and Art Chambers volunteered to verify and count these. The ballots were taken to another room.
Audit committee is made up of John Burress, George McNitt and Bill McCarthy. Report was give McNitt in place of Burress, who was out of town. All bills are paid and accounts are in order at this time. There was one bill paid late in the past year. It was a water bill and a late charge was assessed. A delay in mail delivery caused this late payment. Motion was made by Easter to arrange for this bill to be automatically deducted from our checking account. Motion was tabled for lack of 2nd. Even though the association earns interest on our deposits and monies in reserve no taxes are due from us. The salaries paid by us offset this need for taxes. Motion to accept this audit report made by Lloyd, 2nd by Cox. Motion carried.
Our webmaster, Paul Churchwell is retiring from this position after many years of service for us. He will be given a plaque is appreciation of his service. The following owners were given special thanks for their service to our community.

All attendees are invited to view the renderings for the rebuilt entry signs. The life span for the original signs was 15 years and that is long past. The concrete bases are cracked and crumbling. This construction will begin after all bids are submitted and approved by the board and Hombre Golf Club. Hombre will pay for part of the new signs at the Back Beach Rd. entrance.
Dan Shaffer, owner, wonders if the City can designate our streets as “residential” and therefore allow no through traffic. He also asks if we could use security cameras, and place our lighting for the entrances underground. The board will check with the city on these matters. Tom Wilson, owner, feels all these options should be formalized and presented to all owners.
“My Safe FL Home” group is still available to do free home hurricane inspections. It is felt the deadline is March 31.
The Glades Newsletter will be restored. Judy Berberich has agreed to take this position and will be paid for her work. She hopes to begin this as soon as possible.
Glades II fence is in poor condition. Following the construction on Beckrich Rd. Edgewater will be willing to sell us their temporary fencing for a very low cost. This matter will be addressed at a later date.
